Welcome to our website!

Welcome to the website of Communitas Supportive Care Society!

As I think of the many people in this organization who make such quiet but profound contributions to the life of people who might otherwise feel quite marginalized, I am reminded of a story from Robert Greenleaf’s book on Servant Leadership.

The story is about a group of men on a journey. The hero of the story is Leo who serves the group by doing their menial chores and cooking. His good nature and singing inspires them, keeping the journey spirited and lively. All is well until one day Leo disappears. The men look for him but he can’t be found. They soon grow disheartened and become dysfunctional. How can they manage without Leo they ask? They continue their wandering journey for several years until one day Leo is found by one of the men who is then taken into a Religious Order. Soon the man discovers that Leo, whom he had known as servant, is actually the supreme head of the Order that had originally sponsored the group’s journey.

This story is meaningful to me because at Communitas, we have many kinds of “Leo’s” in our midst. One group is the men and women who are the “hands and feet” who provide care and community to our residents and clients on a daily basis. Another group are those who take care of our administrative and leadership details. It is a privilege for all of us, regardless of our position or title, to serve the people whom we are called to serve.

It is also our privilege to invite you to join our community in whatever way you can. Perhaps you are looking for employment, perhaps you or a loved one requires service and support, or perhaps you would like to make a purchase of a high quality CD created by our gifted musician friends. Maybe you are just curious about who we are and what this website is about. Whatever your reason, know that you are welcome! Know also that it is our desire to serve you. I invite you to call us at 1-800-622-5455 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and talk with us.
